Maybe it is better to call them pipeline joints, rather than connections, which is too general.

About Pipelines
Pipelines deliver crude oil, refined products such as gasoline and diesel, and natural gas liquids such as ethane and propane. Over 190,000 miles of liquids pipeline delivered nearly 15 billion barrels of crude oil and petroleum products in 2013.
(from the Association of Oil Pipelines). The important thing is they are called pipelines, not pipes.

Of these, 88,976 miles (143,193 km) represent projects in the planning and design phase; 29,647 miles (47,712 km) reflect pipelines in various stages of construction. Liquids and gases are transported in pipelines and any chemically stable substance can be sent through a pipeline.[2] Pipelines exist for the transport of crude and refined petroleum, fuels - such as oil, natural gas and biofuels - and other fluids including sewage, slurry, water, and beer.

I am no expert in the oil industry, but here is an a Wikipedia article about oil and other pipelines. There is possibly nothing special about the connections and you could just say: ...once the pipeline connections have been completed.
