German term

verfasstheit

German to English Social Sciences Government / Politics G20/ Agenda 2030/UN
Damit erhöht die G20 ihre Legitimität und reagiert auf einen der wesentlichen Kritikpunkte an ihrer Arbeitsweise und institutionellen Verfasstheit

"The G20 thereby increases its legitimacy and reacts to one of the significant criticisms of how it operates and its institutional VERFASSTHEIT."

Make up? State? as in, how it is institutionally arranged? The Proz dictionary has it as "character" but im not sure in this context

Discussion

Markus Heinrich (asker) Nov 9, 2016:
I am almost certain it is structure. Thank you everyone for your time and help!
Ramey Rieger (X) Nov 9, 2016:
I'm wondering if this has to do with the by-laws?

character

"... one of the main criticisms of its approach/procedures and its character as an institution."

Character fits the bill, in my opinion.

As Bernhard pointed out:

Verfasstheit (Duden) =
- Geprägtheit durch bestimmte Grundzüge, Strukturen o. Ä.;
- Zustand, Verfassung

Here's your full sentence:
"This raises the G20’s legitimacy while responding to one of the major pieces of criticism of its operational practices and institutional principles."

agree philgoddard : Or nature, or makeup, or even institutionality.

All good ideas but I wanted to preserve the alliteration in and juxtaposition of practices and principles
