German term

nicht auf um jeden Preis mit <div> und floating umsetzen

German to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Software
Hi everyone,

I wasn't sure how to classify this (General or Computer). Even though it is mainly computer programming-related, I do not understand the use of two different prepositions here (auf um).

This is a HTML handbook for front-end development and "Preis" here refers to the price in an online shop (for context).

Example:

Tabellen sind an manchen Stellen immer noch sinnvoll - ***nicht auf um jeden Preis mit und floating umsetzen.*****

"nicht auf um jeden Preis"? Is there something I am missing here?

Thank you for your replies in advance.

You're right, the sentence doesn't make any sense as it stands. One of the prepositions is superfluous.

My guess is that the author couldn't make up his mind what idiom to use, changed it mid-way through and forgot to delete the preposition.

It's either "nicht um jeden Preis" or "nicht auf Teufel komm raus" or something similar.
