Hola!
No estoy segura de qué significa en español, (menos cómo decirlo en inglés) pero creo que es un tipo de ají muy, muy picante con el que se puede hacer merquén.
¿Alguna sugerencia?
Muchas gracias.

Ortúzar has grown fond of the spice merkén, used for centuries by southern Chile’s indigenous Mapuche Indians. “It’s made from smoked goat’s-horn chili mixed with coriander, cumin, and salt. You can find it in nearly every market in Santiago,” he says.

Ají cacho de cabra—Goat’s horn chili, also a Capsicum annuum variety, is the other indigenous Chilean chili, used in cooking and in the Mapuche chili powder merken, below.

smoked ají cacho de cabra chili pepper
That should be smoked ají cacho de cabra chili pepper, with italics. I have to translate lots of menus and texts on ajies and cuisine here in Peru and this is how I do it, so that the English-speaking reader can learn the local name but also have a general idea of what it is (a chili pepper).
