Hi,

For years, I've been using Netscape Messenger for several reasons and am pretty happy with it. However, Messenger only allows an email signature with the barest HTML feature - a link to a text is all that's possible because the signature has to be in a txt.file. So no buttons or pictures.

Do you know of a similarly good email client (Outlook is out of the question for me) that supports comprehensive HTML features in the signature?

Thanks for sharing you

My Netscape does offer this Oct 26, 2005

Marion, what version of Netscape are you running? I use 7.1, and the help function tells me:

Attach this signature: Lets you choose the signature file (****in text or HTML format****) you want to attach to your outgoing messages. Click Choose to locate the signature file (optional).

Thanks - I just tried what you suggest and it works. Almost. The graphic file I inserted into the HTML does not show, but all the other HTML info is fine. What could it be with the graphic file? It's a common jpg.

I use Netscape 7.1, too.

When you say it doesn't show: it doesn't show where? If you save the file and open it like a regular file in Netscape, does it show? Or does it not show only when you try to write an email? Sometimes Composer has problems with absolute/relative filepaths. It's weird because that (an image file) is essentially the *only* thing I tried and it did work. If you'd like you can email your HTML signature, maybe I can figure it out.

Deactivate "URL is relative to page location" Oct 26, 2005

Great! I also just figured out a solution on my end, I'll go ahead and post it here for others: If you deactivate "URL is relative to page location" it should work. Then the full pathname shows up, like file:///C:/Marion/Docs_2005/xxxx.jpg instead of just xxxx.jpg I guess if you tell it that the URL is relative to page location, Netscape looks in the Mozilla directory, which is typically somewhere way deep in the Programs directory (i.e. not where you saved your pic).

Glad it worked!

Thanks for your wonderful suggestions Oct 26, 2005

Michele, I can't thank you enough. I've played around with Netscape for some time until you told me about the *obvious* solution. I'm so glad I don't have to sack good ol' Netscape!

Toledo: Many thanks for the link. At first glance, they offer the same as Netscape, but I did not read all the details since I'm happy to stick with what I know

Never touch a running system, but if a day you think your software is "out of order" and you have the time, try it

For example, can Netscape this?
