In my case: my biggest client: no extra charge whatsoever other clients: THEY apply an extra-charge for rush jobs (They apply 30% more) new clients: I apply extra-charge for rush jobs (night, weekend). My rates include the "price" for PDF files, as I mostly get them. | | | Clarification | May 11, 2010 |
Well, maybe my comment sounds a bit strange, therefore, I'll add some clarification. I meant, I don't just arithmetically add up charges based on urgrency, format, etc. End price is a product of flexible negotiations. For example, I may take urgent work at a regular rate because I expect more work from this client or because he pays quickly and in a convenient way or because I like the subject or because I simply have no other job offers at the moment. | | | Rush work, pesky formatting, research | May 11, 2010 |
15% for rush (above 2,500 words a day for more than two days) 15% for difficult formatting--e.g., text inside objects, flow charts--anything where there are a lot of cells and getting into each cell is a pain. Regarding PDFs, I don't charge "extra," I just quote a really high rate, and if the client is willing to pay it, I will do the job. ▲ Collapse | |

I do not quote separately for each job. Prices are set for a certain period of time and 99% of my customers are "regulars". They know there is a price for editable formats and another for non editable formats. Most clients (agencies and direct) send me the pdf AND a converted file if they are not going through a rush themselves at that time, but are willing to pay the "non editable price" anyway: the pdf file is the one I must work by and they have no time to check conversion errors. ... I've had only one customer who refused the surcharge and who sent me a clumsy converted file. Even though I hated to do this, the layout of the translated file was as clumsy as the one I had received I also considered "conversion errors" were "illegible" and let the client fill those in. ▲ Collapse | | | Pages in topic: < [1 2] | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: You charge extra fees for...
