Source text - English MARIE: Last weekend, my daughters and I went to the countryside. I'd booked a holiday [US: vacation] cottage there for the three of us. On Saturday, we took a long walk in the woods. On the path, the girls stopped to observe some small bugs which seemed to be busy carrying food to their burrows. They stayed there to watch them for about ten minutes! Later, we passed in front of a field where there was a pair of horses. The girls were very excited! We came up to the fence, and they called them gently while holding blades of grass out to them so that they'd come closer to them. The horses approached (us) timidly and we were able to pet them! And they asked for more! What a beautiful day we had!
Translation - French MARIE : Le weekend dernier, mes filles et moi sommes allées à la campagne. J'y avais loué un gîte pour nous trois. Samedi, nous avons fait une longue promenade dans les bois. Sur le chemin, les filles se sont arrêtées pour observer de petits insectes qui semblaient occupés à transporter de la nourriture jusqu'à leur terrier. Elles sont restées à les regarder une dizaine de minutes ! Plus tard, nous sommes passées devant un champ dans lequel il y avait un couple de chevaux. Les filles étaient très excitées ! What is a pandemic? A pandemic is when an infectious disease spreads worldwide, or over a very wide area, crossing international borders and usually affecting a large number of people.

Characteristics of COVID-19
COVID-19 is different from the many other kinds of coronaviruses that cause mild illnesses like colds. It is a new coronavirus that is more closely related to more severe kinds of coronaviruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). While most people who get COVID-19 will have a mild illness like a cold or flu, some people will develop a more serious, life-threatening illness.
