English to Czech: Compression ignition systems General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Automotive / Cars & Trucks
Source text - English Compression ignition systems, such as the diesel engine and HCCI engines, rely solely on heat and pressure created by the engine in its compression process for ignition. Compression that occurs is usually more than three times higher than a gasoline engine. Diesel engines will take in air only, and shortly before peak compression, a small quantity of diesel fuel is sprayed into the cylinder via a fuel injector that allows the fuel to instantly ignite. HCCI type engines will take in both air and fuel but will continue to rely on an unaided auto-combustion process due to higher pressures and heat. This is also why diesel and HCCI engines are also more susceptible to cold starting issues though they will run just as well in cold weather once started.
Naftové motory nasají pouze vzduch a těsně před dokončením komprese je do válce vstřikovací tryskou vstříknuto malé množství nafty, čímž dojde k okamžitému vznícení paliva.
English to Czech: Program counter General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: IT (Information Technology)
Source text - English Since the program counter is (conceptually) just another set of memory cells, it can be changed by calculations done in the ALU. Adding 100 to the program counter would cause the next instruction to be read from a place 100 locations further down the program. Instructions that modify the program counter are often known as "jumps" and allow for loops (instructions that are repeated by the computer) and often conditional instruction execution (both examples of control flow).
It is noticeable that the sequence of operations that the control unit goes through to process an instruction is in itself like a short computer program - and indeed, in some more complex CPU designs, there is another yet smaller computer called a microsequencer that runs a microcode program that causes all of these events to happen.
English to Czech: Brazing General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Mechanics / Mech Engineering
Source text - English In the past 20 years there have been some dramatic changes in the application of brazing as an industrial joining process, and nowhere have these changes been greater than in the joining of aluminum. This chapter will discuss why this is so, and what has occurred in the development of aluminum brazing during this period. Until about 1980 the mass production brazing of aluminum was hardly undertaken at all. This is particularly true where the component was of complex design, and where the opportunity to trap some of the salt in its interior posed a potential risk. Furnace brazing with a flux provided the necessary degree of temperature control, but the flux fumes, essentially a vapor mixture of dilute hydrochloric acid with a trace of hydrofluoric acid, invariably caused massive problems of corrosion within the furnace. As a result, the brazing of aluminum was looked on as being rather special and, accordingly, a procedure that was very different from those employed for other metals that were being brazed routinely in industrial manufacturing operations. In the early 1980s, the possible use of aluminum as a structural material for automotive heat exchanger applications was increasingly considered and research projects were initiated with a view to making the mass production brazing of structures fabricated from aluminum a
commercially attractive proposition.
English to Czech: FULL CATASTROPHE LIVING General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English This book is an invitation to the reader to embark upon a journey of self- development, self-discovery, learning, and healing. It is based on thirty- four years of clinical experience with more than twenty thousand people who have begun this lifelong journey via their participation in an eight- week course known as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) offered through the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Now, as of this writing, there are over 720 mindfulness-based programs modeled on MBSR in hospitals, medical centers, and clinics across the United States and around the world. Many more thousands of people have participated in these programs worldwide. Since the founding of the clinic in 1979, MBSR has contributed steadily to a new and growing movement within medicine, psychiatry, and psychology that might best be called participatory medicine. Mindfulness-based programs have become an opportunity for people to engage more fully in their own movement toward greater levels of health and well-being as a complement to whatever medical treatments they may be receiving, starting of course from where they are at the moment they decide to take up this challenge: namely, to do something for themselves that no one else on the planet can do for them.
English to Czech: Electrical phenomena in amorphous oxide films General field: Science Detailed field: Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng
Source text - English Thin layers of insulators, from 100 Å to 20 000 Å thick, have a number of interesting electrical properties. These properties include forming, which is a profound and essentially permanent change produced by an electrical field, and, after forming, differential negative resistance together with switching and memory phenomena. Electroluminescence and electron emission also occur. These features are shown by most amorphous or microcrystalline insulators of the appropriate thickness, and are particularly clearly shown by the oxides, such as Al2O3, Ta2O5 and SiO. In our review we survey the observed properties of metal-insulator-metal devices involving such insulating layers, and discuss the mechanisms which have been proposed for their operation. Further, since the unusual properties may be technologically important, we outline some of the possible uses of these devices and the relevance of the phenomena to the mechanism of corrosion of certain metals.
Translation - Czech Tenké vrstvy izolátorů, tlusté od 100 Å do 20000 Å, mají množství zajímavých elektrických vlastností.
Kromě toho, i když neobvyklé technologické vlastnosti mohou být zajímavé, „nakousneme“ praktické využití těchto zařízení a závažnost úkazu mechanické koroze jistých kovů.

Bio
I am a man with a passion for translating.
I always loved my native language, which is Czech and since the time I learned proper English I always wanted to be a translator. Even though I did not have a chance to go to college, I never stoped learning and developing myself.
It is almost 10 years now since I started with translating. First it were some minor texts, movie and video subtitles and over time I managed to partake in translation of a few books. It was and still is an amazing hobby for me and my passion.
Since last year I started to translate "more seriously" as I decided to work as a part-time freelancer. I specialize in English to Czech translations because this way I can guaranty the best possible outcome.
