Source text - English Dawn on D 1 found the better part of five Marine infantry regiments from two Marine divisions holding a very long double-curved line that was for the most part quite far from their D-day objectives. Of the fifteen infantry battalions ashore, only three at the extremities had come close to achieving their D-day land grab. On the far left, the 5th Marine Division's 3/28 and 1/28 had closed on the western beach but had not come close to smothering the defenses on Suribachi. On the far right, and despite heavy opposition, the 4th Marine Division's 3/25 anchored the V Amphibious Corps line at the East Boat Basin, only a few hundred yards short of its objective. The rest of the Marine line faced west rather than north, and the center battalions were far from capturing Airfield No. 1, much less investing about half of Airfield No. 2, as the plan had prescribed.
VAC and FMFPac took such a jaundiced view of the first day's shortfalls that they agreed to commit at least part of the VAC reserve - the veteran 3d Marine Division - as soon as possible. The division's transport flotilla, which arrived about 80 miles south of Iwo during the night, was alerted for a move to an offshore anchorage.
There was good news. About thirty thousand Marines had weathered the toughest challenge of an infinitely complex amphibious operation; they had gotten ashore in good order and had carved out a beachhead that seemed fairly secure against the obligatory night banzai attack the Japanese almost invariably mounted to throw invaders back into the sea.
Translation - Polish O świcie Dnia 1 większość jednostek z pięciu pułków należących do dwóch dywizji Piechoty Morskiej zajmowała stanowiska na długiej, rozczłonkowanej linii, z dala od celów wyznaczonych na Dzień Zero. Z piętnastu batalionów Piechoty, które wylądowały na wyspie, jedynie trzem, rozlokowanym na przeciwległych flankach, udało się zbliżyć do sektorów, które miały zostać opanowane. Na lewym skrzydle 1. i 3. Batalion 28. Pułku 5. DMor. zbliżyły się do zachodniej plaży, ale nie zdołały zdławić japońskiego oporu na górze Suribachi. Na prawym skrzydle, pomimo zaciekłej obrony Japończyków, 3. Batalion 25. Pułku 4. Dywizji Piechoty Morskiej opanował przyczółek dla jednostek amfibijnych V Korpusu Desantowego przy Wschodniej Przystani, zaledwie kilkaset metrów od wyznaczonego celu. Pozostałe oddziały Marines tworzyły linię skierowaną raczej na zachód niż na północ, a bataliony znajdujęce się w centrum były dalekie od zajęcia lotniska nr 1, nie było więc mowy o okrążeniu połowy Lotniska nr 2, co przewidywał wcześniejszy plan.
Dowództwo V Korpusu Desantowego floty było tak rozgoryczone niepowodzeniami pierwszego dnia inwazji, że zdecydowało się rzucić do walki część odwodu Korpusu – zaprawioną w bojach 3. DMor. Flotyllę transportową tej dywizji, która dotarła poprzedniej nocy i znajdowała się w odległości ok. 130 km na południe od Iwo Jimy, postawiono w stan alarmowy i rozkazano jej przygotować się do desantu.
Były też dobre wieści. Około 30 tysiącom Marines udało się przecież przeprowadzić niezwykle skomplikowaną operację desantową: oddziały dotarły na brzeg w sposób zorganizowany i bez większych strat, opanowali też przyczółek, który wydawał się być wystarczająco zabezpieczony przed atakami „banzai”. Ataki te Japończycy przeprowadzali zwykle nocą, by zepchnąć nieprzyjaciela do morza.

Source text - English Fraud is an ever present threat to company resources and often arises because of lack of proper internal controls. Other fraud may be the result of failure to follow proper procedures, carelessness in carrying out checks, inadequate segregation of duties or management override of internal controls.
Fraud can be difficult to detect because it often involves concealment of facts through falsification of documents or collusion among management, staff members, or third parties. Therefore it is important to place a strong emphasis on fraud prevention and fraud deterrence measures.
In identifying and assessing risk areas, particular attention must be placed on personnel risk. Research indicates that most frauds are committed by people within an organization and that the biggest frauds are committed by the most trusted employees. Fraud can also be committed by an individual or a group outside an organization, with the assistance of employees. In other words collusion is omnipresent.
It is crucial in fraud prevention that management sets the tone for ethical behaviour. Management must lead by example and show staff through their own actions that dishonest or unethical behaviour will not be tolerated. Moreover, it should be evident that all staff will be treated equally when it comes to fraud, regardless of their position.

Translation - Polish Nadużycia finansowe stanowią wszechobecne zagrożenie dla zasobów firmy. Często powstają one na skutek braku odpowiedniej kontroli wewnętrznej. Pewne przypadki takich nadużyć mogą wynikać z nieprzestrzegania właściwych procedur, niedbałości podczas przeprowadzania kontroli, niewystarczającego rozdziału obowiązków, czy ingerencji kierownictwa w kontrolę wewnętrzną.
Trudno jest wykryć nadużycia finansowe, gdyż często wiążą się one z ukrywaniem faktów w drodze fałszowania dokumentów lub zmowy pomiędzy członkami kierownictwa, kadry czy stron trzecich. Dlatego też ważne jest, aby położyć silny nacisk na zapobieganie nadużyciom finansowym oraz wdrażanie środków, które zniechęcają do popełniania nadużyć.
Rozpoznając i oceniając obszary ryzyka, szczególną uwagę należy zwrócić na ryzyko związane z personelem. Badania wykazują, że najwięcej przypadków nadużyć występuje wśród pracowników organizacji oraz że największe nadużycia finansowe popełniają najbardziej zaufani pracownicy. Nadużycie finansowe może również popełnić osoba lub grupa spoza firmy przy pomocy pracowników firmy. Innymi słowy, zmowy to powszechne zjawisko.
W kwestii zapobiegania nadużyciom finansowym kluczowe jest, aby kierownictwo wyznaczało ramy etycznego zachowania. Kierownictwo musi dawać przykład oraz własnymi czynami pokazywać pracownikom, że nieuczciwe oraz nieetyczne zachowanie nie będzie tolerowane. Ponadto, należy uświadomić personelowi, że w przypadku ujawnienia nadużycia finansowego wszyscy pracownicy będą traktowani jednakowo, bez względu na stanowisko.
Wartościami wyznawanymi przez XXX są uczciwość i przejrzystość. W myśl tych zasad firma XXX jest zaangażowana w zapobieganie i wykrywanie nadużyć finansowych, łapownictwa i wszelkich innych działań korupcyjnych. XXX wyznaje politykę zerowej tolerancji dla wszelkiego rodzaju nadużyć finansowych. Reputacja firmy opierająca się na zgodnym z prawem odpowiedzialnym postępowaniu jest bardzo ważna, dlatego należy o nią dbać w każdej sytuacji.
Właściciele spółki zatwierdzili Globalny Program Przeciwdziałania Nadużyciom Finansowym. Zostanie ona wprowadzona w życie 1 sierpnia 2009 r.

Dokumentacja projektowa (zawierająca rysunki w formacie dwg, opisy i specyfikacje w formacie word, tabele zestawcze w formacie exel) zostanie wykonana w języku polskim wg standardów XXX POLSKA.
1. Wykonawca zobowiązuje się do wykonania w/w dokumentacji i opracowań oraz zobowiązuje się, że z chwilą odbioru prac przez XXX przeniesie na XXX całość autorskich praw majątkowych do Projektów.
Wykonawca zobowiązuje się do wykonania przedmiotu umowy, w taki sposób, aby przyjęte w nim rozwiązania były przeanalizowane i zoptymalizowane pod względem kosztowym oraz uzasadnione z ekonomicznego punktu widzenia. 3. Projekty wraz z uzgodnieniami zostaną wykonane w terminach zgodnych z Załącznikiem nr 1.
4. Projekty wykonane zostaną w ilościach określonych w Załączniku nr 1.
5. Wykonawca zobowiązuje się do wykonania dokumentacji projektowej, o której mowa wyżej, z najwyższą starannością oraz zgodnie z obowiązującymi przepisami, normami i współczesną wiedzą techniczną.
6. Wykonawca zobowiązuje się do prowadzenia nadzorów autorskich na podstawie odrębnej umowy.
§ 2
1. W okresie wykonywania dokumentacji, Wykonawca zobowiązuje się do bieżącego jej konsultowania z XXX.
2. Projekt budowlano ma posiadać kartę uzgodnień międzybranżowych, zawierającą pisemne potwierdzenie przez wszystkie branże wzajemnej zgodności wykonanych projektów branżowych dla przedmiotowej inwestycji.
3. Wykonawca zobowiązuje się do niezwłocznego powiadomienia XXX o wystąpieniu wszelkich okoliczności, które mogą wpłynąć na prawidłowe lub/i terminowe wykonanie przedmiotu umowy.

The Ordering Party hereby commissions, and the Contractor hereby undertakes to prepare the following design documentations and drafts associated with the design of _____________ located in _____________ in ul. _____________ street (pursuant to the requirements of the Construction Law Act and the Ordinance of the Minister of Interior and Administration on the detailed scope and form of the building permit design) within the following scope:

The design documentation (containing drawings in dwg format, specifications in word format, summary tables in excel format) shall be prepared in the Polish language in accordance with the standards applied by XXX POLSKA.
1. The Contractor undertakes to prepare the said documentations and drafts and undertakes to assign the entire proprietary copyright with respect to the Designs to XXX upon the works being accepted by XXX.
The Contractor undertakes to execute the works under the contract in such manner that solutions adopted therein be analyzed and optimized in terms of costs and justified from the economic point of view. The Contractor undertakes to justify the adopted solutions in writing at any request of XXX.
The list and scope of design documentation being the works under the contract, number of counterparts, the due date and the amount shall be specified in the Appendix no. 1 which constitutes an integral part of the contract.
1. As part of the Contract, the Contractor undertakes (irrespective of the documentation specified in par. 1) to prepare a set of drafts the preparation whereof as part of the works under the contract is necessary to obtain the building permit.
2. The Contractor hereby declares that the services being the works under the present contract fall within the scope of the economic activity pursued by the Contractor.
3. The designs with approvals shall be prepared within periods specified in the Appendix no. 1.
4. The designs shall be prepared in quantities specified in the Appendix no.1.
5. The Contractor undertakes to prepare the design documentation referred to above with due diligence and in accordance with the applicable regulations, standards and modern technical knowledge.
6. The Contractor undertakes to conduct design supervision based on a separate contract.
§ 2
1. While preparing the documentation, the Contractor undertakes to consult it with XXX in line with the progress.
2. The building permit design shall have an interdisciplinary approvals sheet containing a written confirmation by all disciplines of mutual compliance of the prepared discipline-specific designs for the relevant investment.
3. The Contractor undertakes to immediately notify XXX of occurrence of any and all circumstances which may affect the correct or/and timely execution of the works under the contract.
4. The following persons shall be authorized to perform binding approvals while preparing the Designs and drafts and to communicate information exclusively in writing:

5. _____________ shall supply to XXX the complete electronic version accounting for possible shortcomings detected while handing over the documentation within 2 weeks from the date of making the acceptance report of the design documentation.

Some time later construction-related and technical texts have become part of my translation profession, in addition to the foregoing fields. My long-term interest in the history of world war II could eventually be employed in my translation of the book "Iwo Jima: A portrait of a battle" by Eric Hammel, published by AWM. Currently I am preparing intensely for the exam in order to become a sworn translator. My experience in technical and legal translation resulted in my being entered in the register of technical and specialised translators of the Polish Federation of Engineering Association - NOT in April 2010.
