Zwischen Bayern und Israel bestehen seit vielen Jahren sehr gute Beziehungen. Israel ist ein wichtiger und wertvoller Partner für den Freistaat, insbesondere im IT-Bereich. Seit 2009 unterhält der Freistaat ein eigenes Büro in Tel Aviv.
Ein zentraler Baustein der bilateralen Beziehungen ist die Kooperation im Bereich Forschung und Innovation. Die bayerische Staatsregierung strebt eine noch intensivere Zusammenarbeit sowie eine Stärkung der Kooperationen zwischen bayerischen und israelischen Hochschulen und Institutionen an.◊ ◊Vor diesem Hintergrund wurde eine Wissenschaftliche Koordinierungsstelle Bayern-Israel in der BayFOR ins Leben gerufen, die zum 1. März 2018 zunächst im Rahmen einer zweijährigen Pilotphase die Arbeit aufgenommen hat.
Bereits jetzt gibt es zahlreiche europäisch geförderte Projekte, in denen Akteure aus dem Freistaat und aus Israel wissenschaftlich zusammenarbeiten. Ein Beispiel hierfür ist das EU-Projekt INNOVIP, das die BayFOR in der Antragsphase intensiv unterstützt hatte und das sie nun während der Laufzeit im Bereich des administrativen Projektmanagements und der Verbreitung der Projektergebnisse unterstützt. INNOVIP wird vom Forschungsinstitut für Wärmeschutz e.V. München koordiniert, das israelische Unternehmen Hanita Coatings RCA Ltd. ist als Partner eingebunden. Das Potenzial für weitere gemeinsame Projekte ist jedoch noch weitaus höher.
Die Wissenschaftliche Koordinierungsstelle Bayern-Israel hat unter anderem die Aufgabe, dieses Potenzial weiter zu erschließen. Darüber hinaus dient sie als Anlaufstelle für wissenschaftliche Kooperationen im Allgemeinen und ermöglicht den persönlichen wissenschaftlichen Austausch durch die Gewährung von Mobilitätsbeihilfen für bayerische Akteure aus dem Bereich Forschung und Innovation.

An example of this is the EU project INNOVIP, which BayFOR supported intensively in the application phase and which it now continues to support during its implementation in the field of administrative project management and dissemination of project results. INNOVIP is coordinated by the Munich-based Forschungsinstituts für Wärmeschutz e.V. (Research Institute for Thermal Insulation, known as FIW Munich), while the Israeli company Hanita Coatings RCA Ltd. is involved as a partner. The potential for further joint projects is still much greater however.
Among other responsibilities, the Bavaria-Israel scientific coordination body intends to further develop this potential. Moreover, it is a point of contact for scientific collaborations in general and enables personal and scientific exchanges by granting mobility allowances for Bavarian stakeholders from the area of research and innovation.
