Bio
I have 10 years of translation experience including 2 years working for the Japanese government in a regional office. My main freelance specialisations are medical and HE. I have 5 years' experience working in HE, in marketing and recruitment, admissions and international partnerships. I have 10 years' experience translating freelance projects in the medical field for Japanese universities and agencies, including medical abstracts, reports, journal submissions and case studies.

I have translated documents for a broad range of government departments, most prominently for tourism and regional promotion, and was a translator on the founding committee of Akita's prestigious new International University. In addition, I have translated for visiting governmental / educational / cultural exchange groups and have been assigned to journalistic delegations.

For one year, I was seconded to the Organising Committee for the 2001 Akita World Games, where I translated all promotional materials, correspondence and reports. I also acted as aide to officials from the IOC, IWGA and international sports federations.

I also specialise in website design and translation and new media / internet technology.

I can promise a thorough, professional approach to any assignment.

I have a degree in Japanese and French from the University of Durham, and won a scholarship to study at Nanzan University, Nagoya in my second year. I passed Level One of the japanese Language Proficiency Test in 2003.

In addition to my translation experience, I am also a professional writer, and can guarantee an excellent result, paying particular attention to style and readability.

I offer competitive rates and am willing to negotiate. I work quickly, but thoroughly, in consultation with the client to ensure a final product to the exact specifications.
