Der Zweite Bildungsweg ist eine wichtige Möglichkeit, Bildungsabschlüsse nachzuholen und eine neue Perspektive für den eigenen beruflichen Werdegang zu erhalten. Dies gilt besonders für ehemals Drogenabhängige und Suchterkrankte. Die Tannenhof-Schule ermöglicht in geeigneter Lernatmosphäre den nachträglichen Erwerb des Mittleren Schulabschlusses, der Berufsbildungsreife sowie der erweiterten Berufsbildungsreife. Die Angebote richten sich auch an ehemals drogenabhängige minderjährige Schulabbrecherinnen und -abbrecher.
Seit Jahresbeginn 2021 ist die Tannenhof-Schule in der Mahlower Straße 23 in Berlin-Neukölln offiziell Teil der Volkshochschule Neukölln und übernimmt damit die Trägerschaft von der Volkshochschule Steglitz-Zehlendorf. Die Kooperationsvereinbarung wurde Ende letzten Jahres zwischen der Senatsverwaltung für Bildung, Jugend und Familie, der Volkshochschule Neukölln und dem Tannenhof BB e.V. erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Im Bezirk Neukölln gab es bisher keinen Standort zum Zweiten Bildungsweg, so dass ein Trägerwechsel im Interesse aller Beteiligten war. Eine weitere Besonderheit gegenüber anderen Einrichtungen des Zweiten Bildungswegs ist, dass die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer von der vorangehenden Schule auf Antrag freigestellt werden können, um die Tannenhof-Schule zu besuchen.

Die Tannenhof-Schule bietet ihnen die Möglichkeit, unter cleanen Rahmenbedingungen versäumte Abschlüsse nachzuholen und wieder Anschluss an das gesellschaftliche Leben zu finden. Ich freue mich über den gelungenen Trägerwechsel und bedanke mich bei allen Beteiligten für die ausgezeichnete Arbeit.“
1987 als ein Wohngruppenbeschulungsprojekt in Berlin-Wannsee gegründet, ist die Tannenhof-Schule nach mehreren Zwischenstationen seit 1999 in der Mahlower Straße in Berlin-Neukölln ansässig. Von Anfang an unterstützt die Senatsverwaltung für Bildung, Jugend und Familie das Projekt. So wurde die Förderung von jährlich rund 50.000 Euro auf jährlich rund 92.000 Euro im Jahr 2020 aufgestockt und im Doppelhaushalt 20/21 bereits eingestellt.

“Second chance” education is an important way of acquiring educational qualifications as an adult and gaining a new perspective on one’s own professional career. This is especially true for former and current drug addicts. In a suitable learning environment, the Tannenhof School makes it possible for students to obtain the “Mittlerer Schulabschluss” school-leaving certificate (comparable to GCSEs in the UK), the “Berufsbildungsreife” (a vocational apprenticeship diploma) as well as the “erweiterte Berufsbildungsreife” (an extended vocational apprenticeship diploma) later on in life. The services are also aimed at formerly drug-addicted underage early school leavers.
Since the beginning of 2021, the Tannenhof School – located on Mahlower Strasse 23 in Berlin-Neukölln – has officially been a part of the Neukölln Volkshochschule (adult education centre), taking over responsibility from the Steglitz-Zehlendorf Volkshochschule. The cooperation agreement was successfully concluded at the end of last year between the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family, the Neukölln Volkshochschule and Tannenhof BB e.V. Prior to this there were no “second chance” education facilities in the borough of Neukölln, so a change of provider was in the interests of all involved. Another feature that makes it different from other facilities providing “second chance” education is that participants can, upon request, be ‘released’ from their previous school in order to attend the Tannenhof School.
Sandra Scheeres, Senator for Education, Youth and Family: “For former or current drug addicted minors and young adults in particular, school prospects are of huge importance. The Tannenhof School offers them the opportunity to catch up on missed qualifications in a substance-free environment and to reconnect with society. I am really pleased about the successful change of provider and I would like to thank all those involved for their splendid work”.
Founded in 1987 as a residential group school project in Berlin-Wannsee, the Tannenhof School has been located in Mahlower Strasse in Berlin-Neukölln since 1999 after moving locations several times. From the beginning, the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family has supported the project. Thus in 2020, the funding was increased from around 50,000 euros annually to around 92,000 euros annually and it has already been included in the 20/21 biennial budget.
