English to Italian: The governmentality of corporate (un)sustainability: the case of the ILVA steel plant in Taranto (Italy) General field: Bus/Financial
Source text - English The present research aims to investigate the role of states in governing the sustainability trajectories and decisions of companies and their local communities. Drawing on Dean’s (Governmentality: power and rule in modern society, SAGE, London, 2009) “analytics of government” as the theoretical framework, the paper focuses
on detecting how the Italian Government “problematised” the sustainability-related risks associated with the ILVA steel plant in Taranto, whose levels of pollution have worried both the Italian authorities and the European Union Commission. The analysis also considers the “regimes of governance” under which the risks have been addressed and then explains the “utopian ideal” that the Italian Government tried to achieve by allowing the company to continue its activity, contrary to the Italian Judiciary’s provision to halt the hot working area of the steel plant in July 2012.

“analitiche di governo” di Mitchell Dean come quadro teorico (Governmentality: power and rule in modern society, SAGE, London, 2009), questo paper vuole valutare come il governo italiano abbia
“problematizzato” i rischi relativi alla sostenibilità associati all’impianto siderurgico ILVA di Taranto, i cui livelli di inquinamento preoccupano sia le autorità italiane che la Commissione
Europea. L’analisi considera anche i “regimi di governance” sotto cui questi rischi sono stati affrontati, ed espone “l’ideale utopistico” che il governo italiano ha provato a raggiungere permettendo all’impianto di continuare la sua attività, violando la disposizione della Magistratura Italiana volta a fermare il funzionamento dello stabilimento nel luglio 2012.

Two years ago I received my Bachelor's Degree in Intercultural and Linguistic Mediation from the University of Bologna (English, Russian, and Japanese). I won an Overseas scholarship that allowed me to spend a semester at the Kazan Federal University in Russia. Now I am completing my Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe, which is completely taught in English, and where I am continuinging to study Russian language, combining it with a focus on socio-political issues related to Eastern Europe. I spent last semester at Vytautas Magnus University of Kaunas, in Lithuania. I have completed an internship at the 16Corto short film festival, where I translated and edited subtitles for short films that were presented at a festival. During these years, I have occasionally worked on a few translations for different clients.
