Sonntag. Die wunderschoene Arche ist nach historischen Vorbildern gearbeitet und wohl eher ein Sammlerobjekt. Im 19. Jahrhundert freilich war die Arche Noah der Exportschlager der erzgebirgischen Spielzeugindustrie. Sie war vor allem in den angelsaechsischen Laendern beliebt, wo eine strenge Sonntagsheiligung galt, denn mit der biblischen Arche durfte auch an diesem Tage gespielt werden. Die Arche Noah dient nicht nur der religioesen Erziehung. Bis heute lernen Kinder an ihr die Tiere kennen und nach Paaren zaehlen. Und praktisch ist sie auch! Das Archeschiff ist zugleich Verpackung fuer Noah, seine Familie und die Tiere. Deshalb sind neben Nachbildungen der historischen Arche moderne Formen im Spielzeugangebot. Die Archen sind ein anschauliches Beispiel dafuer, wie die Spielzeugproduktion im Erzgebirge organisiert war. Sie beruhte auf den Prinzipien der Heimindustrie, der Arbeitsteilung und des Vertriebes ueber den Spielzeugverleger. An der Heimarbeit war zumeist die ganze Spielzeugmacherfamilie beteiligt - oft drei Generationen der Grosseltern, Eltern und Kinder.
Translation - English Noah's Ark - the ideal toy for a Sunday. The exquisite ark has been crafted according to historic examples and is more of a collector's item than a toy. In the 19th century, of course, Noah's Ark was the #1 export item of the Erz Mountain toy industry. It was especially popular in Anglo-Saxon countries, where Sundays were strictly observed as religious holidays, because playing with the biblical ark was allowed. Noah's Ark is not only useful for religious education. To this day, children use the ark to learn about animals and to count in pairs. It is also a practical item: the ship houses Noah, his family and the animals for easy shipping and storage! The offer now includes modern designs along with historic reproductions of the ark. Our arks are vivid examples of the way the toy industry in the Erz Mountains was organized. It was based on the principles of local craftsmanship, work-sharing and the marketing of the products via toy wholesalers. In the industry's early days the entire family participated in the toymaking process - often three generations of grandparents, parents and children took part.
