Although "willy-nilly" seems to be the most popular answer, I'd use "willy-nilly" for "istemeye istemeye/ister istemez", rather than "esek gibi". "Esek gibi" is a lot cheekier than "reluctantly".

M. Ali Bey'in "willy-nilly" yanıtını çok beğendimi ve bu terimi ilk kez duyduğumu söylemeliyim. Ayrıca maillere her gün düşen " a word a day" maillerinden birinde bu karşılığı da görmüştüm ve ilgimi çekmişti.. Tam anlamıyla bizdeki "istese de istemese de.."nin karşılığı. Eşek gibi için de iyi bir karşılık olabilir diye düşünüyorum. Saygılarımla...

İngilizce'de (kültür olarak) "eşek gibi yapacak/yapacağım" gibi kinayeli ve zorlayıcılığı açıklayıcı bir terim olduğunu zannetmiyorum açıkçası. En iyi ihtimaller zaten verilmiş gördüğüm kadarıyla, ama belki "kaçınılmazlığı" ifade etmek için "inevitably" kullanılabilir. Ama her ne olursa olsun, "eşek gibi"nin yerini tutmuyor hiçbiri :)))
