Explanation:
Just an alternative since this is originally derived from a Turkish word "odalık" which is synonymous with the word "cariye" which is originally Arabic.

At least it was coined, I believe, by French (as in the famous Ingres painting) only to mean these harem women and has no ambiguity about whether she is a slave or just cohabiting a certain man.
