Reference information:
Se les llama así a las casas construidas con ladrillos o bloques, hormigón etc., materiales de construcción. No son casas de material las hechas con chapas, cartón, barro, adobe, etc.

No es vaga la pregunta. En mi país se les llama así y todos entendemos a qué se refiere.

Tampoco de madera.
Por eso también habla del cielo raso, porque las casas, para que no se propaguen esos bichitos, deberían ser construidas con materiales como los antes mencionados o yeso(que se usa mucho para el cielorraso) y tener cielo raso "de material", no de madera, ni ladrillos, ni paja, chapa, nailon, etc. Es decir superficies lisas y limpias que impidan la reproducción de esas criaturas.
