I understand this but am struggling to come up with something that sounds natural.
"Science awareness project"...? Any thoughts, please?
Thanks

Calles de Ciencia es un proyecto de divulgación científica que persigue, gracias a la participación ciudadana, identificar y visibilizar la presencia de personajes relacionados con la ciencia y tecnología en el callejero de las ciudades.

"Science outreach" is the one for me and is perfectly summed up in the Wikipedia entry: "an umbrella term for a variety of activities by research institutes, universities, and institutions such as science museums, aimed at promoting public awareness of science and making informal contributions to science education", which fitted my context perfectly.
That said, "science communication" is a great alternative and its Wiki description is good too: "the practice of informing, educating, raising awareness of science-related topics, and increasing the sense of wonder about scientific discoveries and arguments".
Thanks very much everyone!

Asker: Thank you for this, but it is a literal rather than natural translation and is not a term I would recognise in normal English usage. In fact, a Google search of "scientific dissemination project" yields only 1380 results and many of those are non-English language websites or Linguee. Thanks.

science communication project

Explanation:
As someone without a science background but who is interested in the subject, I've been reading and listening to various "science communicators" over the past fifteen years and this is always the term I hear them use in this context.

"Science communication is the practice of informing, educating, raising awareness of science-related topics, and increasing the sense of wonder about scientific discoveries and arguments. Science communicators and audiences are ambiguously defined and the expertise and level of science knowledge varies with each group. Two types of defined science communication are science outreach (typically conducted by professional scientists to non-expert audiences) and science "inreach" (expert to expert communication from similar or different scientific backgrounds)."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_communication

As you can see from the reference above, "science outreach" is a slightly narrower term aimed specifically at non-expert audiences (like myself), but as I say, the people who do this kind of work generally refer to themselves as "science communicators," possibly because it's just easier to understand.

LIFE AS A FULL-TIME SCIENCE COMMUNICATOR
"Science communication is a broad term, which historically has been used mostly for researchers, who are active in outreach. Over the past years it has expanded to include not only traditional scientists, but also communication experts with a background in science. I am one of those and you can read my story and my view on #scicomm on TSB's science blog."

Educational science project

Explanation:
Divulgacion is often just education. I just translated a text about Carl Sagan, describing him as a 'divulgador' as well as astronomer. Searching in English, he is often described as a science educator, so that's what I used.

neutral  Robert Carter: While Carl Sagan, as a university professor, certainly was a "science educator"; as a "divulgador" he is generally referred to as a "communicator" (which is a slightly different, but specialised role) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Sagan ¡Saludos!
