Spanish term or phrase: pretendidos autores en primicia de ideas
From the brochure for an exhibition on a man who was a bit of a Da Vinci type, a polymath who worked in design, engineering, architecture and so on. The XXXXX refer to his original inventions or ideas, I've omitted them for reasons of confidenciality but I don't think they're essential to the sentences...

Personaje controvertido y polémico, bebió de ideas y procesos en marcha en su tiempo, que supo desarrollar en teorías y experimentos de alcance masivo. Con ello, nombres de *****pretendidos autores en primicia de ideas***** como XXXXX o las XXXXX, quedarían casi ocultos en un segundo plano.

I don't understand this idea of "pretendidos autores" - a Spanish colleague thinks that it refers to others who sought to pass off this bloke's groundbreaking ideas as their own, but there's no reference to who they might be or examples of them doing this. It seems strange to introduce this allegation of plagiarism and then not mention who was responsible or give any details
