Dead Loads are those loads which are considered to act permanently; they are "dead," stationary, and unable to be removed. The self-weight of the structural members normally provides the largest portion of the dead load of a building. This will clearly vary with the actual materials chosen.

Carga permanente Permanent load

So, the answer to your question is that they are not the same. Dead load is "carga muerta".

Note to reference poster
Asker: Hi Taña and many thanks for this but I have a question as I have seen carga permanente translated as dead load so not sure if carga muerta can also be used ie if both are used Many thanks :)

Asker: Thanks so much again Taña, excellent response as always!
