I feel this is better than a more literal translation.
I wouldn't use it to disinfect my house! As well as being toxic, it's caustic.

"A disinfectant that contributes to the hygiene of homes" is a tautology, because that's what disinfectants do. So I'm suggesting that you combine the two clauses into one.

Asker: Neither I would, haha. Thank your for your comment, you are right. The thing is, in this case lime was used to paint the walls, because there were nor normal houses, but cave-dwellings. :-)
