Spanish term or phrase: mirar dentro de casa
En un texto sobre la superviviencia de las empresas, y las empresas centenarias:

Visión emprendedora:
En el origen, en ese Big Bang de donde todo proviene, las empresas centenarias ***miran dentro de casa***. Muchas han comenzado con una familia. Pero, sobre todo, con la ilusión, el sacrificio y la visión adelantada de un emprendedor. “Una figura fundadora que actúa como catalizador de la idea principal y desarrolla la estrategia de ventas”, relata Miguel Momobela, analista del bróker XTB.

Possible translation: Originally, in that Big Bang where everything comes from, centuries-old companies ***look inside the house***. Hay algo menos literal que suena mejor?

look inward

Explanation:
Una opción menos literal pero que creo que conlleva la misma idea.

Algunos ejemplos en inglés:
-Companies Looking to Boost Their Reputations Should Look Inward
-Why The Most Powerful First Step Is Always To Look Inward
- Your team has to look inward before it looks outward
- The next step in becoming a digital business: Look inward

are turning (their gaze) inward/s

Explanation:
A similar option to Rebecca's with a couple of possible tweaks.
Other options could be "going/looking/turning back to their roots/origins/beginnings..." etc.

Example sentence(s):
  • ... with the company's original mission and principles, they turn their gaze inward...

they drew their strength from within

Explanation:
(the companies) drew their strenght from within. They started as family-run businesses.

I think the meaning should not be taken literally because there is an omission - they "look inward" for something, the source of their success.

agree  philgoddard: Good point. Maybe, to continue the Big Bang idea, "energy" would be better than "strength".

Look at one's own backyard

Explanation:
Although I liked the "looking inward" option, this is the first thing that came to mind.

Taking the context into account, it would actually be "look at their own backyard".
