disagree  Uly Marrero: First off, I don't agree with "info" here in the meaning of "cyber", and even if it fit, it wouldn't be a separate word.

cybergypsies

Explanation:

Notes to answerer

Cybergypsy could also mean IT fans among gypsies or gypsy internet users. Fig-ly you may use, it is possible, amigo!

-> No, it could not. There are no 'Cyberkirghiz' or 'Cyberukrainians' out there. Plus, they don't call them Gypsies no more in PC-land. // You still don't get it that nationalities use capital letters, do you? A whatever-gypsy is not a Gypsy.

disagree  Uly Marrero: We're assuming here that "Gypsy" has a negative connotation and is tantamount to a grifter in all languages, countries and cultures. I'd use a more generic word like cyberGRIFTER that doesn't target a specific people.

info hustlers

Explanation:
or cyber hustlers?

Reference: Marketing fraud

Reference information:
It is the type of marketing fraud, or this term is applicable here,
I would use different term than gypsy (which is the literal meaning),
I believe, there is another term suitable for this in English, but I am sure it is not *gypsy*

Yes, I know, that's why I mentioned above: I believe, there is another term suitable for this in English, but I am sure it is not *gypsy*

Note to reference poster
Asker: While "cybergypsies" is used for internet surfers and digital nomads, it is strongly associated with "The Cybergypsies: A True Tale of Lust, War, and Betrayal on the Electronic Frontier" by Indra&Andra Sinha. However, in your case, the terms is about the phenomenon/area, not the person, alas.

disagree  Boris Shapiro: Why not 'fraudsters', then? Or even 'bad people'? That's called unwarranted generalisation. You're losing a significant component of the original meaning.

disagree  Uly Marrero: This sounds more like a designation for a crime than the person committing it.
