д." - иллюзия или галлюцинации не подойдут под описание. cast a shadow Explanation: The dark magician has cast a shadow over us... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 30 mins (2012-08-07 18:32:52 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- From the context it is implied that the "shadow" has been cast via magic, i.e. not literally. Perhaps another version: The magician cast us into darkness or ...conjured a false twilight or ...dimmed our eyes/vision etc. |

Hocus Pocus is a generic term used by magicians, usually the magic words spoken when bringing about some sort of change. The origins of the term remain obscure. Some believe it originates from the Latin form of the Roman Catholic eucharist, when the priest says "hoc est enim corpus meum," or "hoc est corpus" (this is the body), which, through transubstantiation, turns the wafer into the body of Jesus -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2012-08-07 19:11:30 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Касательно галлюциногенного воздействия, опять таки hocus подходит замечательно: http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/hocus?q=hoc... bewitch Explanation: Пример: http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Bewitched_Templar The Bewitched Templar is under the control of a Desire Demon, who is making him believe she is his wife and that they have two loving children. The demon mentions that this was the Templar's hidden desire all along; something that he himself did not even know. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/bewitch 1. To place under one's power by or as if by magic; cast a spell over Думаю, могут подойти: enthrall http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/enthrall to put or hold in slavery http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=enthrall "to hold in mental or moral bondage," 1570s, from en- (1) "make, put in" + thrall. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/mesmerize mesmerize 1. To spellbind; enthrall 2. To hypnotize. |
