Malay term or phrase: Capel

This appears in a list of words used for the HVLT-R (Hopkins Verbal Learning Test). Being in a list, there is no context; it appears to fall into the category "Items of clothing".

Can any kind person out there shed any light on this? Is it derived from the English "Couple"? Preliminary researches using Google websearch and images seem to suggest it might mean "couple's shirts" or "his and hers shirts".

Am I on the right track here?

Actually I've never heard of capel. But 'capal' is a kind of slippers made of leather. I'm just giving you the possibility, in case there was a spelling error.

From my google search, I found an original list of the English words on nature.com. It seems to indicate, it originated from the English word "chapel."

Initial search on DBP's PRPM indicates "Chapel" as the English equivalent, as in Sistine Chapel.

There is no other meaning for capel in Malay except to a type of church.

A near search in bahasa Indonesia also indicates no word.

Asker: Thanks for your time, Hasnan. I had earlier (prior to posting) pursued the possibility of "chapel", which, as you rightly point out, is the term given in the PRP for "capel". It didn't make sense initially in the context (i.e. as a piece of clothing), hence my post. I did find that "capel" it is also being widely used (incorrectly, and presumably pronounced kapel) to render the English word "couple". Having looked further at the possibilities, I surmise that "capel" in my document is intended to mean "chapel dress", so that's what I'll put, and include a footnote for my client. Thanks again for your input :)

if its refer to clothing, it must be "capal". And it is a traditional thongs made from leather. It is a traditional slippers. Registered terms is thongs, but I would suggest to use traditional thongs because it is easier to understand.
