trying to find out what the phrase "scuro fidei" means in english, this way i can finish translating our family crest. we have a heavy irish, scottish and welsh background if that helps any. thats all the information i have at the moment, thanks to all involved!

as far as I know 'scuro' is an adjective and it means dark...
or As a verb:
'scuro': 1st Person singular present indicative of the verb 'scurire

fide is faithful...

faithful through darkness ?

a possiblity...

Somehow I think there should be "sicuro fide" instead of "scuro fide"
in which case your code of arms would mean "sure faith"
because "sicure" means sure/sound/safe/overconfident/guaranteed/trustworthy ...
