Jerome translates this quite accurately as [8:31] Dicebat ergo Iesus ad eos qui crediderunt ei Iudaeos si vos manseritis in sermone meo vere discipuli mei eritis, [32] et cognoscetis veritatem, et veritas liberabit vos. Translated into English literally, both the Greek and the Latin mean, "Jesus accordingly said to those Jews who believed in him, 'If you abide in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will ascertain the truth, and the truth will set you free.'" |
