Latin term or phrase: *eramen
I am working with a low quality copy of a handwritten document, and can't read the first letter of the first word of the following sentence. It looks something like a capital gamma. The sentence below is referring to a diagram of a building. Any guesses what the first word could be?

"*eramen unius palmi altitudine quatuor digitorum latitudine, in quod Ramtschandem sese imminisse et evanuisse afferunt."

Thanks!
