Japanese term or phrase:
A musician who works with both real instruments and electronic sounds is talking about the difficulties of getting a clean performance when recording his music.

I understand it all except the last phrase, the one in the title. The best I can guess is something like making sure that even muffled sounds are audible from next door, but that doesn't make much sense.

Thanks in advance for any help.
