So to state what material these 「パト」are made of、without any available evidence of that, is forcing the text unjustifiably. Settling for パド, assuming a mistyped input is safer. The problem, however, is that "pad' suggests a soft shield, sometimes made in all sorts of shapes like a screen of air blisters. Yet, "Pad" is also used by some manufacturers to refer to a rigid panel, as Cinefil has shown. Am tempted to settle for "Batt" instead. It would at least have the merit of suggesting an homogenous rectangular panel, even though whether hard and rigid is not, in most cases, part of its definition: most of the images of it screened show insulating batts made of glass fibre.
