I am working on marketing material for a small company that produces clay pots for indoor/outdoor plants.

According to their company history, back in the 80s they started using this type of kiln to make their pots.

Does anyone know what this is called?

There appears to be a typo. I believe that it is ニイミ and not エイミ. The type of kiln appears to be a "smother kiln", which uses smoke to blacken pottery.

You should ask the client if possible about the typo. エ and 二 are somewhat similar characters and there is actually company called Niimi that has been around for a while and manufactures that kind of equipment.
