Independent life Explanation: The 1st impression of "independent living" (and the majority of the first few pages of google hits) is that it is used more often to refer to elderly or disabled people, or older foster children, being able to live on their own. "Independent life" is also used for those cases but also for people no longer receiving welfare or other assistance. Hope that helps... |

state of self-sufficiency(independence) Explanation: Perhaps it's just me, but independent living/life just doesn't really sound very natural to me in this context. Just a suggestion, but perhaps you could try something like "return to a state of self-sufficiency," or if you feel that this is saying too much that the source is not, "return to a state of independence." |
