Passbook for multipurpose account Explanation: First, 総合口座 refers to a specific type of a bank account, and it should not be omitted in translation. http://eow.alc.co.jp/search?q=総合口座&ref=sa Second, if you put the words in the same word order as they are in the Japanese term, it (in this particular case) - "multipurpose account passbook" - can cause a confusion as to which part of the term "multipupose" refers to - "account" or "passbook" (although, technically, how many purposes can a passbook have?) . Google hits for "passbook for multipurpose account" are few, but I think this translation is would be the most appropriate in this case. http://www.harutrans.com/others/Passbook_Sample.pdf http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Merrill Lynch coerces customer... |

integrated account / comprehensive account Explanation: This is translated as "integrated savings passbook" by Japan post but it would be an idea to check if the specific bank has a preferred term already. In most cases it's an account with the combined functions of checking accounts, saving accounts, etc. Depending on the context "passbook" can be omitted.
