sheer Explanation: - 濁り is defined as muddiness, impurity, cloudy, unrefined (Nelson’s Japanese Character Dictionary) - 濁りのない literally means “non-muddy” but that may not be such a beautiful word in describing lip gloss. (“Murky” is another word often used as a negative adjective to describe bad lip glosses.) - I think the word “sheer” that you mention above is a great word that's regularly used with makeup of all sorts. "Sheer" used with colors in make-up has a fresh, clean, translucent feeling--the opposite of the feeling of being thick, muddy or murky. - Here is a website that says the color “looks very muddy brown in the tube but is a surprisingly “sheer” bronzy shade…. http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ID=51552/O...
