A system in Japanese agriculture.
It seems to consist in keeping small rather than large farms, and all dispersed, in order to avoid big loses in case of natural disasters and others. In the document I'm working on, changing this traditional system and producing on big farms will improve productivity and has other advantages.
Is there any name in English for this?

Sorry, owners should be "ownership," but it didn't fit. I'd drop the "its" in front of it, though.
