disagree  Michael Korovkin: No,RC is where garbage containers are taken FROM piazzola ecologica, and where one takes oversize pieces to dump.Before door-to-door collection we too took our garbage to a piazzola ecologica from where it went to our local RC.+contenti loro...:)))

  -> I too had this doubt about what 'piazzola ecologica' is referring to. However, given this place has opening hours I'm confident it is referring to a recycling centre and not simply a collection of large bins where people throw their daily rubbish.

Explanation:
Not "center"
Center is where they do ... whatever they do to garbage AFTER they take it from the collection point.
"Piazzola" is simply a place with containers for garbage, that's it.

It's what before PC they called "posto raccolta immondizia". It was the times when "garbage man" wasn't yet "l'operatore ecologico":)))
