My clients occasionally send emails with short phrases to translate with no context. I remember agencies doing the same years ago. Often it is quicker to Google it than to ask the client, but often I ask to find the type of document. Advertising stuff will need a different approach to a legal doc. I would put it another way. Every message or communication has a context and if that context is a dictionary, then you need to give a list of alternative meanings for different types of context. If it is not then any translation is just a guess at the context.

Usually, on further discussion it turns out there's plenty. But I suppose there's always a first time...
