Right. There is no specific context, apart from conversation and journalese. It's true that "mondo villaggio" and "villaggio globale" are similar, referring to the fact that the planet is apparently getting smaller; whereas "villaggio-mondo" refers to the fact that in the not-so-distant past (and still in some parts of the world) most social and economic interaction was restricted to small local communities: villages, towns etc. Are there concise English versions of the Italian equivalents? |
