This is the text: "Il settore aerospace richiede numerose verifiche metrologiche e dimensionali sui componenti: che siano scali, karter, componenti della motorizzazione o della trasmissione" (about the word "karter" I think it's a typo and it was supposed to be "carter"). The example posted by Emmanuella is relevant.

Space Maintenance Station

From reading about the context of this term I propose a more specific translation for the meaning of 'scalo'. 'Montaggio' could be best translated as 'Assembly'. All of the above terms could be included including 'Maintenace' which is a more broad term to include assembly.
