Explanation:
The word "bucuk" is a term in Makassar (South Sulawesi), which means rotten, ugly. Originally, it actually is a call to a child, that in the culture of makassarese it is "taboo" to call a child beautiful/handsome, so they rename with the word "bucuk" as amicable nickname to the child. But through times, this meaning had shifted, the word "bucuk" then referred to describe what was considered ugly, both physically and in behavior, and today, the word turns worth more to jokes.
