neutral  Peter Simon: The only problem is that in Hungary, German abbreviations or acronyms are not used. KF in HU may mean Környezetvédelmi Felügyelőség, though not much related, kötelező felelősségbiztosítás is KFB, but there may be something else I haven't thought of

KF volt a betűszava a Közlekedési Felügyeletnek (General Inspectorate of Transort). Ma már nincs Közlekedési Felügyelet, hanem Nemzeti Közlekedési Hatóság van, de a KF jelzés – mint örökség – a hatósági nyilvántartásba vett alvázszámokban megmaradt.
Régebben volt AF is (Autófelügyelet).
Ha a kocsit a magyarországi közlekedési hatóság nyilvántartásba vette, akkor az alvázba üthetett AF-es számot; vagy ma már KF-est, pl. ha a volt AF-est törvénytelenül manipulálták, vagy az az olvashatatlanságig korrodált: „kirohadt”. Ez a magyarországi, közlekedési hatósági alvázszám (így keresendő) avagy „KF-jelzés” megegyezik a kérdéses nyilvántartási számmal:
