dhoti Explanation: A loincloth worn by Hindu men in India. The cotton fabric used for such loincloths. From Hindi `dhoti'. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2003-06-20 08:05:22 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Here is a very good explanation of the origin: http://www.bartleby.com/61/2/D0190200.html Hindi dhot, from Middle Indic *dhautta, *dhotta, cloth, probably from past participle of dhauvati, he washes, from Sanskrit dhnoti, dhau-, he shakes. sorry to say that it refers to indian who 've left india and started staying there for their..... Explanation: living and have resulted in large numbers. As a result, resources in nepal are slowly diminishing. Moreover nepalis living in india are termed as bahadur and always called by the name. As a result or say irritation, I feel that nepalis have given term to the same. As indians traditionally wears a dhoti-a long and large sized cloth to worn wrapped alongside waist as a pant. I'm not sure that I 'm perfect in my answer. PRAKAASH [email protected] |
