Explanation:
Systems Building - The Safe-DIS group have been prototyping various systems which will contribute to a Safe-DIS workbench. They are collected under a user-interface surface which gives access to the results and products of the research and development done to date. At the forefront is an expert system which is being currently built in Kappa (an expert system shell, which is governed by an object base, and a set of rules which are inferred using Backward and Forward Chaining.) The system uses a set of rules concerning sewer rehabilitation (taken from an old project, SERPES), and will be expanded to use rules derived from the Safe-DIS interviews. Another system, which deals with multiagent architectures, is currently being investigated and modified at the moment, and research is being carried out as to how this can be related to the Safety of Network design.
