German term or phrase: Pilotlosprüfung
Hi,

Has anyone heard of this term? Does it mean 'independent test', as in no human participant being present/involved? (Testing includes equipment being dropped from a height or subjected to certain conditions to test for damage impact, eg dust/extreme temperatures, if that gives some context.)

Best wishes,
Alison.

pilot lot qualification

Explanation:
Also appears elsewhere as 'pilot lot inspection', with 'batch' sometimes replacing 'lot'.

An odd reference, but here it is:
"...and check the Pilotlos of the twelve battle tanks and four armored recovery vehicle in field trials on the suitability of troops run."
"The tanks of the pilot lot are the first vehicles of serial production..."
https://esut.de/en/2019/11/meldungen/streitkraefte/16826/arm...

The only other direct link I can find is through [cough, cough] Linguee:
https://www.linguee.com/english-german/search?source=auto&qu...

"First piece qualification (FPQ) or pilot lot qualification (PLQ) is a process of supplier design confirmation based on the inspection during production of first ordered product (FPQ) or first lot (PLQ)."
