... is a representative basket of commodities used to calculate inflation, then a "Schadenskorb" should, by analogy, be a "basket" of damage items that insurers used to calculate their costs and therefore the insurance premiums. If, as in Phil's hit, A (unnecessarily) triggers B, then we'd all be paying higher premiums.

"Damages basket" is very unwieldy, but there are a couple of relevant hits:

Also the question is... is there an upper limit of cover, then I would take bucket instead of cover... assuming this might be a Vollkaskoversicherung and this is referring to repairs of one's own car, because liability to another party is usually not so detailed on what is covered... you break it, you pay it... there might be a deductible, but beyond that damages are paid by the insurance... Maybe something like "Light damages cover" instead of minimal to get away from the implication that this is a minimal package...

... "Minimal-" refer to "Schaden" rather than "Korb"? And I can't imagine there's a "minimum cover package" for road vehicles that excludes liability for hitting someone.
