German term or phrase: vererbbare lebenslange Garantie

Would it be lifelong warranty? What about 'vererbbare' - 'heritable lifelong warranty'?

transferable lifetime warranty
Explanation:
Alternative: lifetime warranty transferable to successors.
(More context would probably resolve the discrepancy between the two answers. Transferable means if you sell the item it the warranty rights pass to the purchaser. Transferable to successors means that the transfer must be upon death or the like, not upon mere sale.)
("Transferable" is the idiomatic term normally used.)

Term is from July 17 job posting

Explanation:
I'm confused why you would post this query here when it is from a job posted yesterday.

Either you hope to gain the job by translating the sample text or you were successful in gaining the job, even though you did not know how to translate the sample text.... Either way, very confusing.

agree  Katia Braumueller: Daniel - a friend forwarded a fb post from someone needing ad hoc translation help. I contacted them and they wanted a sample of work, they sent me that text. It's my first time using ProZ, I'd sent my translation off before answers were even posted.

lifelong guarantee which you can pass on to your heirs

Explanation:
i.e. a guarantee which not only lasts the whole life of the owner, but can even be passed on to their heirs
An alternative might be: "transferable lifelong guarantee", meaning a guarantee which lasts the lifetime of the product and can be transferred to successive owners.
Additional context would be helpful.

agree  Katia Braumueller: Many thanks, I went with 'heritable' - that was the word I wasn't too sure whether it should be 'heritable' or 'transferrable'.

heritable lifetime warranty

Explanation:
I may use this instead of transferrable because if they meant transferrable they could probably have used übertragbares.

agree  Gordon Matthews: When I sent my answer, I hadn't seen yours. If the customer has specified British English, I would use "guarantee" rather than "warranty", although I realise that that might be a bit old-fashioned these days, especially if it's a legal text.
