German term or phrase: Inventargeber
It is the name of a role, a decision-making role I think in respect of advertising or selling advertising space. I think it is a Swiss German term.

The only context I have is as follows:

Inventargeber besitzen eigenes Inventar in den Kanälen TV (z.B. SRG), Kino (z.B. Kitag), OOH (z.B. APG|SGA), Publishing, etc.

It is in a list with other types of people to sell advertising to/make advertising deals with:
Advertisers, users, marketers, agencies

OOH stands for 'out of home' which I understand to be advertising materials such as billboards (especially interactive ones on bus shelters etc.)

I am guessing Inventar in the sense of 'stock' rather than 'inventory', but I am still struggling to think of what the equivalent term for Inventargeber would be in English.

Suggestions welcome! TIA

**Ad inventory** is the total amount of space that a publisher has available for advertisements at any given time. The term is usually used in reference to online advertising but also applies to print and other traditional media. Online, a publisher is typically a website owner but can also be an app developer.

Even when it comes to the programmatic direct deals that Amazon’s DSP is facilitating, there is a concern that the arrangements could become a Trojan horse. For now, Amazon may use the deals to get publishers to provide it with access to higher quality inventory, and publishers may be comfortable with that because, in these programmatic direct arrangements, they are still the ones dealing with the advertiser directly. But Amazon could parlay advertisers’ adoption of its DSP to eventually revert publishers to the role of **inventory provider**.

inventory supplier

Explanation:
Just a logical guess. There are probably lots of other variations, i.e. inventory provider, etc.

Example sentence(s):
  • The inventory providers are in possession of their own inventory...

neutral  philgoddard: Provider is the right answer in my opinion, but you need proper references explaining what inventory means in this context.

Sorry for the typo, it's "media company".

Perhaps "media outlet" works better?

disagree  Steffen Walter: Far too generic. Cf. https://www.tubemogul.com/premium-ad-inventory ("... we know that you often need to be able to connect directly with ad inventory providers to bring your campaigns to the next level.").

neutral  philgoddard: Media outlet is correct, but I don't see any reason not to translate the German literally.
