Weiss jemand, was die «surface corticale» bei Wurzeln ist? Hier der fragliche Satz:

Il a été montré que l'augmentation de diamètre [des racines] était liée à une augmentation de la surface corticale des racines, le développement du cylindre central n’étant pas affecté par le tassement.

«kortikale Oberfläche» kenne ich nur als Begriff aus der Neurologie.

Ihre Vermutung/Assoziation mit der Neurologie ist absolut berechtigt, wird doch der Begriff des Kortex/Cortex hauptsächlich in Bezug auf das Gehin verwendet. Die Verwendung in Bezug auf Pflanzen ist eher ungewohnt in unseren Ohren.

Mit dem Begriff Kortext (von lateinisch: cortex = Rinde) bezeichnet man in der Medizin den an der Außenseite gelegenen Gewebeanteil bestimmter Organe. Am häufigsten ist mit Cortex die Großhirnrinde, d.h. der Cortex cerebri gemeint.

Kortikal (frz. "cortical(e)" bedeutet "die Rinde (Kortex) betreffend".
