averaged out over a distance of 2 km Explanation: 'averaged' isn't really exactly right, but I can't think of a better way of expressing this idea at the moment; try searching the glossary for other examples of 'lisser' used in this way. Of course, it is the area cultivated with each grape variety that is being 'averaged out' in this way; the idea is simply to get a broader view of things: 2 km is a reasonably large scale in vineyard terms. BTW, Asker, your draft translation contains several other un-idiomatic and other problems that you would be well advised to address before delivering your final version. |
