agree  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: Thus the expression "poser les jalons" to mark limits. Immediate memories of a 'remembrement cadastral' in the 'commune' where I used to live and seeing blokes with "jalons" hopping across my old 6.000m² garden. More fun than gnomes any day!
